Being Two!

Developments:

Weight: 30 lbs (75%ile)           Length: 37 in.(95%ile)

Head Cir.: 18 3/4 in.(25%ile)   BMI: 15.5(20%ile)

The Doctor...hmmm I am not sure why, but Jack HATED getting on the scale! He has never been a problem going to the doctor. But this time he totally freaked out! He was fine with the stethescope. And he has always hated getting his ears checked (probably because he usually has an ear infection) but this time he just lost it when it was time to weigh him. Finally, I had to get on the scale with/without him and subtract to find out how much he weighed :( what an ordeal!

Talking: Of course, once I had Jack evaluated his speech started taking off! He is starting to say more and more 2-3 word sentences. On his birthday he said "where did daddy go?" He is trying to repeat everything we say! A lot of the words he used to mumble are clearer now. (Car, bye) John and I always say we are going to miss the way he says milk ..miiiill :) He uses the pronoun "mine". He knows almost all of his letters.  He can count to ten (when you count with him). He is starting to have opinions  For example, he was wearing Thomas jammies and when I took off the pants to change him into something different because I thought they were too hot, he said "no, choo-choo". He not only chooses the books he wants, but will say which book, "big car" means one of the new books he got for his birthday, either Roadwork or The Little Blue Truck. He also likes for Goodnight Moon to be his last book so he will ask for "moon". He says " excuse me" when he wants to get by you, and "sorry" if he accidently bumps into you.

He can put together an object and who it belongs to; i.e. "mama's car" " daddy's cup (bup)". He says "me more" if he wants more. He is definitely using "mine" more often :) 10/22 he held on tight to a box of brownies in the store declaring "mine"...so guess who baked that night :)

Sleeping: Weekdays-7PM-6:30AM and a 1-1/2 hour nap...which he is now taking on a big boy cot!
Weekends -7PM-8or9AM and a 2-3 hour nap. Yup, just like us he "catches up" on his sleep on the weekend after the long work week!

Eating: It has now changed to about  1 big meal a day. When he first "stopped eating dinner"  or just ate a little I was frustrated. But then the doctor (and several friends and family) said that it is normal. Sabina said he will have 2-3 helping at lunch and breakfast, so I know he is getting good nutrition  She makes all homemade meals, and she sends around the menu. He eats way better there than he would here : ) I know he is getting in his veggies and proteins and fruits, so now I just relax when we get home.I put something out I know he likes and if he only takes a few bites I don't sweat it. We can certainly see he is not starving :)

Teeth: He LOVES brushing his teeth! In fact, is he the only kid in the world that 1) asks for it 2) when I take the toothbrush away he asks for "more"!??! And he has always used regular adult minty toothpaste (Doctor said that was totally fine) and loves it. Lucky me! No fight there!

Other: Jack can undress himself! Today he unzipped, and took off his jacket all by himself! He is starting to get interested in the potty, so I got him a Cars potty. We will see! At daycare Sabina said he wants to sit on the potty like the older kids. She lets him, but he hasn't gone yet. The day of his party he stood by the bathroom, took off his pants and diaper and said "potty, daddy!" I wasn't prepared! I need to read the books now :) He has his own specific sense of humor. He is a pretty funny kid :)

Every morning, as soon as he comes into the living room, John would bring him onto the couch and say "ohhhh look at the sun!" (sunrise over the lake) Now Jack gets on the couch and does it every morning by himself and says "daddy! Ohhhh nun!" or "der it is, es da nun!"
