Jack's 5 year photo shoot

Jack is absolutley amazing in every way! John and I can not believe how lucky we are!

Things Jack has said:

The other morning: "I love Charlie, I love my whole family, I love myself"
Mom, you're bootiful
John taught him about molecules and atoms, and he told me  "story" about how he dreamed about picking 19 molecules from a tree :)

Jack is starting to understand adding and subracting! He loves to talk about gravity and friction (from Blaze and the Monster Machines)

Charlie's 2nd month!

Developments:

Charlie is smiling! It is so cute we can't stand it! He also LOVES Jack! Jack is probably the one he smiles at the most :) He also smiles almost every time John says "hi" to him :) Another development is that he seems to be doing a little better at tummy time-he does lift his head and doesn't cry for a few minutes. He is the most successful when Jack entertains him :) He is also very aware of his hands and grabs toys and his pacifier. Which is good and bad. He can either put it back in, or take it out and throw it!

He is in the 50-75%iles for height and weight. However, he gained a little over 1 lb in his 2nd month, the Dr said they should gain 2 lbs a month. She recommended adding formula, but the little stinker will NOT take a bottle of any sort! We've tried breastmilk and formula (alone and mixed), having John feed him, both when I am there and when I am gone (poor John, when I have been out-which as only been twice, the Cubs game and my 2oth reunion- he cried the entire time), We've tried when he is hungry, not hungry, before and after nursing, while he was asleep. We've tried different places and positions, times. Different nipples, bottles, even a suringe! This is our biggest and really only. problem right now. Other than that, he is amazing! He has a great demeanor - just like his brother ;)

Sleeping/Eating
He is inconsistant at night. For the most part he sleeps from 10-3. But is has been anywhere from 8:30-5:45 to 10-1. But overall he is a very good sleeper.  I can't complain. He goes right back to sleep, and really the first half of the night is pretty long. I looked back at Jack's baby book and apparently he was waking up every 2 hours. During the day he eats about every 3 hours. Sometimes longer/shorter, but 3 is pretty avaerage. His is more alert during the day. He usually wakes up for his morning feeding around 6:30 and eats again around 8:30 and 10:30. Then he sleeps umtil  about 1. It varies depending on if we are out and about vs at home. When we go out I usually have him in the Bjorn so I can have cuddle time with him even when we are on the go. It is how I can bond with both my boys at the same time :)

Jack is AMAZING! He is so patient with Charlie's crying.... I am so impressed. He just loves him so much, and even calls him his best friend! I have been very busy keeping Jack occupied. We;ve been to ALL of the museums, some of them twice! He also loves the Little Beans Cafe in Evanston. It is more difficult now that all of his friends are in school (Sean and Ethan), so I have also dropped him off at Sabina's a number of times.
