Mom and Dad go to a wedding in Galena at Eagle Ridge

A wonderful getaway! Galena is beautiful! And to top it all off Tina and her family were there for their reunion! John and I spent most of our time with our friends Taryn and Mark. The perfect "couple" friend for us. The drive up was long, but John and I took advantage of the time together, and spent most of it laughing :) The wedding itself was great! It was not only beautiful, but I had a great time hanging out with work people, outside of work! Sunday I woke up, went on a gorgeous run through the hilly forest and river. Then I treated myself to a massage! I haven't had one in years! We also had lunch with Tina,Patrick, Aunt Trudy, and Johnny.  It was the perfect weekend! Then John and I hardly said anything during our very exhausted drive home :)

Mommy went Kayaking at sunset..

I know I usually post about Jack...but this is one of the coolest things I've done in the city! Our friend Lindsay invited me to go Kayaking with her on the Chicago River. It was a sunset tour and it was amazing! Perfect temperature, great tour guide, and just an overall wonderful experience to be at that level, with that perspective, in such a grand city! I never get tired of living here!

Annecdotes

I want to remember to write down funny things Jack says. Although there are a million each day :) For example, today we were on the highway to see Naomi he said "oh, by butt. I burped!" Ha! I guess passing gas is a little like a burp!

He has been talking about his birthday for MONTHS! He'll suddenly say things like "it's not my birthday today" "happy birthday me?" " I like my birthday" "I'm almost (3) free" " my birthday is fun, right?" " I want a geen cake for my birthday"

We are leaving for Shawno this weekend and he has been talking about Papa's boat almost everyday! "Papa's boat, right mommy?" We were in CVS and we saw a Lightning McQueen life jacket. He picked it out and wants to wear it all the time!

Yup, no pants!

We love getting "ice ceam" at Yogart Land down the street! He always wants the "geen one" -which is pistachio?! Apparently Geen is his favorite color :) This place is great because you pay by weight, so I just get a small amount of ice cream in 2 cups and we share. " Jack and mommy share, right?"

"it's a BIG one, right mommy?"

"no mommy, YOU'RE silly!"

More summer fun

Jack...always making friends :)

Getting ice cream from the ice cream truck is a big deal. Everytime we see one I say "sorry, mommy doesn't have any money". So everytime he sees one he announces that "mommy doesn't have money". It was a super big deal for me to actually by him one! I just happened to have cash with me. I don't like making things like that a habit because I don't want him to expect treats. It was absolutely hysterical! He was so excited that he LITERALLY did a flip! It was on accident, he was just jumping so high and furiously that he flipped in the air and landed on his face! I don't think it could be duplicated in a million years. The ice cream guy, as well as all witnesses, were cracking up!

the mouth, and surrounding area, sums up the experience ;)

Visiting Jack's old friend from Sabina's named Naomi. Eleanor and I used to work together. She moved to Northbrook, so we visited her new home and new baby! Naomi and Jack loved seeing each other! Although she is a little pushy :)

My favorite part of the summer is hanging out with the Owens family! We have a weekly date. Every Wednesday we take the El train to their house for "happy hour". The kids absolutely get along flawlessly! They are all such great friends!

Always getting spoiled by Aunt Maggie :)

Jack missed Sabina, so I dropped him off one day and met a friend in Oak Brook. On our way back I decided to stop by Buckingham Fountain because he is obsessed with water fountains :)
