Wow, what a transition!
Well, I hope the proverb “In like a lion, out like a lamb” will ring true for 2021. The nation was in jubilation with the ending of 2020. However, the mood changed on January 6th as we watched Capitol Hill being seiged and overtaken by a mob of Trump Supportors. As one Senator stated, " Jan. 6, 2021 will “live forever in infamy” and will be a stain on our democracy". Members of Congress said they were stunned by the violence. Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) said she had expected the day to be tense.“Them actually entering the United States Capitol is not something anyone would have expected to see here in the United States of America. It it is a shameful and sad day for our democracy,”

Now, what about Covid-19? Well, they are in Phase 1b of distributing vaccinations! "They say" it should be "gone" and "normal" by the spring. I reflect to when we heard we were shutting down March 16th. It was a shock. I was driving home and Pritzker announced schools were closing. It seemed crazy and surreal. Here we are 11 months later...
My feelings? Mixed. It is facinating how many emotions I (as well as the world) have gone through during these "unprecented times". Sttrangely enough, I am settled into the "new normal". I work from home. I am around my family ALL the time. Watching Charlie blossom has been amazing. I am able to go to the gym, do laundry, etc... I also don't have a hectic morning routine with commuting and getting kids ready. It has been more relaxed around here.
However, I feel like we can't move forward with the house during remote learning. I feel that we are in a stand still. I am getting frustrated that the work we weanted to do isn't getting done. The good news is that we bought at a good time and our house, without remodeling, ihas gone ip $75,000 already!
The Chicago Teacher's Union is still fighting with CPS to delay the reopending. We are scheduled to start an in-person hybrid model in February. As a parent, I am still waiting to see what happens in order to make an informed decision as to whether or not to send Charlie and Jack. It is a very confusing time.
