Updates...

As we all know, I have been a little worried about Jack's speech. Well.... I am pleased to report that I had him evaluated and he is "normal"! In fact, he is doing great in ALL his developmental areas! They were very complimentary! I was a little worried because when I picked him up from Sabina's she said he didn't nap that  long, and he was cranky for most of the car ride. BUT apparently he loved all the attention because he was really showing off! There were 3 pretty, young women here (no wonder Jack did well :) what a ladies man!) and for the most part they took turns playing with him while the other would ask me questions. He is doing excellent with his Social/Emotional development. They were very impressed with how cooperative he was. He didn't get frustrated, he did everything they asked and he was super smiley and friendly. As most people do, the first thing they said when they met him was "wow, what a happy little boy!" They said he did outstanding for a 23 month old that didn't nap! They said he has great attention (John is VERY happy about that! :) He is even a little advance on some of his Cognitive Development. They mentioned that maybe he is a little weak in the mouth, so continue with using straws and open cups whenever possible. (he always uses straws, now I am starting open cups). They said he is very "trainable"so that even if there were to be a "problem" later it would be very easy to fix it. And of course, he is super in the Gross/Fine Motor Skills department! The boy can climb, jump, run, throw, kick, hit a ball with a bat, can sometimes catch (still working on this), well all the things a busy boy needs to know! He can also stack cups ( so I guess that means he can differentiate between sizes) he can thread a string through a block with a hole in it, he knows the way a book should go and how to turn pages. I am SO happy I did it. Not only did it give me relief so that I can stop wondering about it, but they also said so many reassuring and complimentary things that it made me feel so good! Plus, they gave a lot of helpful information in general. It was a great experience!

Needless to say, I am going to have to stop "listing" the words he says because they will start to become too many to count! He is starting to put 2 words together-even if they aren't always clear. The evaluator said that the ear infections could have prevented him from hearing the right sounds early on, so that may be a factor as to why many of his words are unclear. He reverses the ending and beginning sounds, but she said she doesn't think that it will be a problem. He does have memorized "sentences". He also uses "excuse me" "thank you" "please" and "sorry" whenever appropriate.

He is starting using the word "no" a lot more often :) And although I am glad he is starting to get his own opinion, I have had to get used to it since he is usually such an easy going guy. He still is, but every once in awhile..... :)

He is starting to dress himself! It wasn't until the women to evaluated him mentioned that it is something he should start doing that I even had him try it. I am sure he does it more at Sabina's, but he is my "baby" so I am not always sure when to let go of the reins :) He can on his shoes really well! He can pull up his pants and pull up his socks if you get them started! He gets SO proud!

He definitely wants more independence. Mama will have to start letting her baby grow up :)
